Treat Bags

These cute little bags make fun alternative to the bulky Easter basket and Halloween bucket. They are a fun project to make with kids.

  1. Cut 2 pieces of felt 8.5"x9.5"
  2. Trace your bag embellishments onto fusible web. Make sure you trace them backwards!
  3. Iron fusible web to fabric according to package instructions.
  4. Peel off paper from embellishments and place on one piece of felt. Leave about 2 1/4" space at the bottom of your felt piece for the bottom of the bag. Iron in place.
  5. Decorate and stitch as desired.
  6. Place right sides together and sew around the sides and bottom of the bag.
  7. To make a box bottom bag, center a side seam on top of the bottom seam, forming a triangle.
  8. Measure in 1 1/2" from the point of the triangle and mark a line perpendicular to your seam. Sew along the line. Repeat on the other side.
  9. Cut triangle, leaving 1/4" seam.
  10. Cut two pieces of ribbon for handles, about 15" each.
  11. Sew ribbon along the top edge, about 1" from each side.

Other variation ideas: parade bag, church bag, etc.
